Moving out

The ducks are moving outside. They were getting picked on by the chickens and since they have quadrupled in size they needed more space. We are still working on making their pen completely safe from intruders but they are loving their new space. We gave them the kids' swimming pool and they love to swim and clean their feathers.

Bath Time!

We have had all of our flock for just over two weeks now. They seem right at home now. The ducks have grown to likely 3 times their size when they arrived.

Moving day for the chicks.

We officially moved the chicks into their hen house. The ducks were starting to play too much in their water dish and make a mess and cause a stink in our basement so they needed to move to their own house. We have been preparing the hen house for some time and we still need to make the nest boxes but they are very happy having some room to run. We sure did get a lot of interest in what was inside though from the four legged friends of the farm.

Ducklings

You can really tell when postal workers get excited about a package. They called at 7:15 this morning and told us that our ducklings had arrived and that we could come and get them. This perplexed us because they don't open until 9:00 but they said that we could come to the back door and ring the bell and they would give them to us. How cool!
They are bigger than the chicks and are a lot more active. They are stronger and can jump all over the chicks. They are sooo soft and fluffy. :)

Hilltop Farm gets some peepers

We got the call this morning that we have been looking forward to. The post office called to tell us that they have a box making a lot of noise and that we can come and get it.

We ordered 29 and they shipped 44 babies! This helps them to stay warm and survive the trip from Iowa. We may lose a couple when it's all said and done but they should start laying eggs around Abby's birthday in June. They are eating and drinking well so far.

The kids love them!
